Ford Super Duty Trucks
Trucks are hot right now, and manufacturers are happy to meet the demand. After all, truck customers are the most brand loyal, and the margins on trucks are much higher than those of cars. The pick up truck segment offers more choices than any car segment does. With the upturn in the U.S. economy, manufacturers are working furiously to get more people into trucks, and truck owners into newer models. When it comes to trucks, bigger is always better and not just for testosterone fuelled bragging rights. Bigger trucks can do more. They can slog through tougher conditions, carry more weight and pull thousands of pounds behind them. For those who simply need more truck, Ford has a line of Super Duty pickups, of which one is certain to get the job done. More

Ford seeks trademark for Ecobeast
In a peek behind the curtain of what may be to come from Ford, we have learned that the Ford Motor Co. has filed to register the term "Ecobeast" as a trademark. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office website, the automaker filed the second of two applications on December 22, 2014. The most recent application specifies that the mark is to be used for auto engines and automobiles. An earlier application, filed on February 26, is so that the term can be used with automobile-related decals, graphics and bumper stickers. Ford, the second largest U.S. automaker has been repeatedly praised for it's successful series of Ecoboost gasoline engines. The 1-litre Ecoboost engine has won numerous awards throughout recent years, including Engine of the Year. While automakers file trademarks left and right, sometimes they are never used. Sometimes they are merely registered to keep others from getting their hands on them. It probably would not be good for Ford if, say, GM started using the Ecobeast name. In this case, the Ecobeast trademark will likely be put to good use. More

Ford Develops Black Box For Police Cars
Most modern cars now come equipped with a black box. These black boxes, or data event recorders serve double duty. They tell manufacturers about the performance of their vehicles, and they supply critical information to investigators about the cause of a crash. One can no longer claim to have been driving the speed limit or to have been wearing a seatbelt when a crash happens, the vehicle's black box knows the truth. These boxes are helping to improve vehicle and driver safety, but there are still some concerns as to who actually owns the information generated and whether or not it should be shared with insurance companies. Even police officers are not free from the reach of big brother. Ford has developed a black box intended for police cars, like a traffic cop for police. This system will monitor the driving behaviour of police officers behind the wheel. In this case, instead of the information being recovered only after an accident such as in an airplane, the technology used streams the data in real time. More

Ford And Lincoln Fuel Economy Numbers Wrong
Last week Ford announced that it was correcting the consumption ratings of several 2013 and 2014 hybrids and plug-in hybrid models, as well of most of the 2014 Fiesta models. Upon discovering their miscalculation through internal testing, Ford immediately contacted the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency). A new series of tests were performed to determine the vehicle's exact figures. The explanation is a bit technical, but in short, the error was caused by a factor called the "total road load power". This is a factor that is used during aerodynamic testing. It was during this testing of a Fusion Hybrid in a wind tunnel that the company discovered that the total road load power did not match the values used in aerodynamic testing. Changes in the validation process should eliminate the risk of this error happening again. Ford has notified it's dealers that they can continue to sell the vehicles affected by this error, even though the new EnerGuide consumption labels will not be available for about ten days. More
